Three-Day Summer Institute for Student Support Staff (deans, social workers, counselors, parent coordinators, etc.)

Monday, July 10 - Wednesday, July 12, 2023 | 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM | Location: 2600 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd., Suite MB, New York, NY 10039 (use 150th Street entrance)

 

Participants will examine the school’s vision and create a supplementary socio-emotional mission statement that will guide the actions of the student support team’s actions. Participants will learn to identify and address hard-to-reach students by engaging in activities that disrupt preconceived notions about students. Also, participants will identify strategies for tracking data that can help students receive the support necessary to thrive.

  • Day 1: Creating an effective mission of socio-emotional support and explicit team roles and responsibilities.

  • Day 2: Identifying and developing strategies for engaging hard-to-reach students and families.

  • Day 3: Tracking data and developing approaches to prevent socio-emotional impediments to learning.

 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for each day of the institute.
